#15 The Green Hornet

Oh hai!

Yesterday, my family and I watched The Green Hornet, So this entry will contain my opinion on the movie.

Overall rating: ★★★ 1/2

This movie falls into the same genre as the other Seth Rogan movies: Dumb/hit and miss. For about the first 4/5ths of the movie, the writing and plot were painful. (The writing was painful because it was bad, the plot was painful because it was a train wreck-type situation) But I guess that is to be expected when the main character is an asshole.

It finally starts to get better when the asshole in question decides to take responsibility for deceased father’s newspaper company and nearly gets killed because of it. This leads to a series of badass fights in which an automobile’s believable capabilities are severely stretched. The finale made watching the movie worth it.

Pluses- The actor who played Kato did a damn fine job. I actually liked Cameron Diaz in this movie. Fight scenes and graphics were pretty good.

Minuses- The first part of the movie is extremely annoying, and Brit was a douche who makes me sad for humanity.

Was it worth the $10 ticket? Yes, because the fight scenes are definitely more effective on a big screen.

Going on a plane today, hope I’m subjected to molestation.

#12 The King’s Speech

Gonna blog party before work, woo woo!

So as I mentioned yesterday, I went to see The King’s Speech. I also said I would give my opinion on it so here it is:

Over all: ★★★★1/2 (out of 5)

This movie picks up on a part of history that was somewhat overlooked due to Winston Churchill’s success.  It follows the story of Queen Elizabeth’s father who is an accidental king with a prominent stutter. Throughout the movie, the viewer learns about the private lives of the the royal family and the battles they face as “Bertie” slowly becomes more confident in his voice.

The musical score was a bit too much at parts, but appropriate for the rest. The acting was great, as were the sets and wardrobe. Though most of the movie has a serious demeanor, there are some great comic relief parts such as hearing Collin Firth curse for about 2 minutes straight.

Was it worth the $ 10 ticket? Do you have a job and readily available income? Then yes. Are you a partly starving college student? Then you should netflix it. Nonetheless, you should definitely spend the 111 minutes of your life to watch it.

#3 The Black Swan and such…

I'm actually rather apathetic about candy canes.

I woke up in bed with the marvelous Kellye today. (It was a sleepover with my friend,  you jack-holes) It was 4 am, and I couldn’t sleep so I did this weird get-ready for-work-and-then-go-back-to-sleep-for-an-hour-thing. After waking up the second time, I messed around on reddit for a while before getting my tush to work.

After I was done making coffee for the yuppies I work near, Elie(another best friend from high school) picked me and Kellye up and we made our way to the cinema where we saw The Black Swan.

As a dancer myself, I could really connect with the struggles the main character was having (well aside for having hallucinations about becoming a swan and not having boundaries with my mother). But something about the ballet dance world is nasty, and I feel this movie did an excellent job portraying that. Sure in a big ballet company, you might have a couple of friends, but getting a good part may cost you your personal relationships. And I’m not even gonna touch the anorexia issue (that is for a later blog).

Random thoughts on the movie: Girl on girl= hot. The creep factor was well done. I do not want to see this movie with my family; it is far too uncomfortable. I kind of liked some of the messages.  I did not like the excessive handy-caming; THIS MOVIE NEEDS MORE TRIPODS.

General consensus: I think this was an excellent movie, but I realize now that I have made the mistake of not letting it sink in for a while before blogging about it. Yep, glad nobody actually reads this, because this is the sucky-er of my entries. Oh well.

On the subject of who sees this: I’m stating now that anyone can read this(even though I may have some very personal posts later on). So, Mom/Kellye/Elie/Josh/Devon or whoever, if you have been lurking don’t feel bad because you are allowed. While I don’t particularly care who if anyone reads this, I’m not going to advertise it either. I’m actually going to run a little experiment with myself and see if I post a total of 365 blog posts without any of my family or friends knowing. I also want to see if I attract readers I don’t know. Just an experiment.

Sorry for the lack luster post, internet. C U Tomorrow!

So…. I should probably being doing homework right now….

Instead, I’m creating a blog. For today’s post, I think I will make some suggestions for youtube vids to watch. Firstly let me explain, that I am, in fact, a youtube connoisseur. I’ve spent hours upon hours of my time watching (for the most part) bad youtube vids so that you can see the ones actually worth watching. See, isn’t that nice of me?

Here are two videos for your viewing pleasure:

Firstly- Something Educational

And secondly- Something Artsy

Enjoy!
